Menara City One EMCO: Day 09/14 - More Testing by KKM

| Day 22/28 of Malaysian MCO | Day 09/14 of City One EMCO |

I woke up pretty early. Brendan was pottering around the kitchen rustling up breakfast. Sleeping Beauty was, well, sleeping.

We were somewhat surprised by the sound of traffic along the road in front of our condo this morning. The wailing of sirens as well as the whirring sounds of helicopter blades every now and then told us something is up. What that is we don't yet know.

At the same time the media circus has dissipated somewhat, with only a handful of reporters gathered along the road outside our condo.

Dare we try ordering out today? We think not.

This Friday 10th April the government is expected to announce whether the national MCO, already extended once to 14th April, will be prolonged again.

Will the MCO be extended? We'll know in 72 hours

Both Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion were placed under EMCO yesterday 7th April, and according to the Health Ministry will need about 10 days to conduct Covid-19 screening on nearly 5,000 residents of both buildings.

10 days to screen Selangor Mansion, Malayan Mansion residents

The way we see it the testing of residents of both buildings will only be concluded by 17th April, so unless the government is willing to unleash the general population into these high risk areas the MCO will be extended by at least another week.

Let's face it, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and its surrounding areas is the go-to place for the general population looking to prepare for the impending fasting month of Ramadan that is just around the corner. Lock-down or no lock-down the area where we live will be swarming with people, if the MCO is not extended beyond 14th April.

At about 10.30am we were alerted to the sounds of a blaring loudspeaker coming from the vicinity of our 7th floor condo foyer area. I believe today will be the turn of (at least) 300 residents from Block A that will undergo testing for the virus:

Our prayers are with them. At least now we know the reason for the unusual sounds of traffic along the road in front of our condo earlier this morning.

Later during his daily press conference the Health Ministry Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah again announced the same figures: a total of 2,109 tested with 30 positive cases. We are ever hopeful that our EMCO will end as scheduled.

It has been a day since we were PCR tested, and we expect results in 6 days' time. We ask that everyone we know to pray for our continued health, safety and well-being.
