Oldtown - Ampang Waterfront

3A, Jalan AWF 1
Ampang Waterfront
68000 Ampang
(Coordinates: 3° 8' 49.75", 101° 46' 2.25")

Brendan has extra classes for his Bahasa Melayu in Ampang every Saturday, so we tend to gravitate toward Ampang for lunch every Saturday.

We have a soft spot for Oldtown White Coffee (our favourite among all Kopitiams), and this particular outlet is located at Ampang Waterfront.

This outlet is by far the best looking!
@ Ampang's Waterfront, you won't miss it
The beverages came first, as always
Then the food
Brendan had the chicken curry rice
Cat had the curry mee
While I had its 'special' nasi lemak
bon appetit!
I had the coffee lava for dessert
While Brendan had the ice cream toast

Restoran Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh (Reloaded)

Restoran Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh
54A, Jalan SS 14/2
Subang Jaya
47500 Selangor
(Coordinates: E101° 35' 22.4" N3° 4' 22.2")

This has got to be a firm favourite of our family as we've been coming here close to 10 years now, and has in fact been mentioned here earlier. I know there are 'better' and more authentic BKT shops in Klang (a dime a dozen if you ask me), but my idea of a BKT fix is when the broth is absolutely black and 'herbalistic'.

right across McD/Starbucks SS15
steaming herbs on the stove
No wonder they've got great complexion
Our food being prepared
Served in a matter of minutes
Brendan can hardly wait
Looking smug (its his fav as well)
Cat digging in with gusto
She had lettuce on the side
My slice of heaven!

Nasi Ayam Isa

Nasi Ayam Isa
Pusat Penjaja Jalan Thaver
Kampung Pandan
55100 Kuala Lumpur
(Coordinates: 3° 8' 39.75", 101° 44' 2.75")

We've not been here in a while, and thought we might check it out. I used to work in Kampung Pandan many years ago and this stall was very popular during lunch time.

Not sure what this stall is called now
Is it Isa Nasi Ayam?
Or Warung Sukaramai
Whatever the name, the roasted chicken is delicious
Freshly roasted chicken
In search of the Yum, found this Nasi A'Yam'..
Cat loves it
So does Brendan
Time to put the camera away and eat!
ABC for dessert

Again, this stall will not blow a hole in your pocket. Nasi Ayam was RM4 per plate, and drinks + ABC was a further RM6. Give it a try!

Ampang Orchard View Yong Tau Foo (Relocated?)

Ampang Orchard View Yong Tau Foo
2G Jalan Wawasan 4/3
Bandar Baru Ampang
68000 Ampang
(UPDATE: Relocated?)

This is where we always go to for our Yong Tau Foo fix.

You won't miss it
The boss' daughter (Mdm Hoh)
The 'ong lai's are up!
Waiting for our food
Typically lovely kopi O peng
This is what we came for
Cat and Brendan had the minced pork wan tan mee
While I had the usual lap cheong fried rice

We've been coming here for a while, and its your typical yong tau foo joint. We like the service and the soup that comes with the yong tau foo is just right.

Its the typical everyday food for the everyday person, and it won't blow a hole in your pocket for sure!

Note: We've read online that this shop has relocated to somewhere along Jalan Merdeka nearby. We've tried looking for it but to no avail. If anyone has the address we would appreciate you dropping us a line or message to update us. Much obliged!

Oldtown - Yap Kwan Seng (Closed Down)

Old Town White Coffee (Closed Down)
89 Jalan Yap Kwan Seng
50450 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +60321625722

After Ulik Mayang, we took a drive around and finally found ourselves at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. Since it was tea time and Brendan was hungry again (he's a growing boy) we made our way to the Oldtown White Coffee outlet here.

Hungry ghosts!
Brendan had the Pepsi float
While Cat had her usual sour drink (orange something)
I had the usual hazelnut white coffee
Digging into her toast bread
The mural on the wall was interesting
We've always loved the decor, cosy and welcoming

Ulik Mayang (now defunct)

Nasi Dagang Ulik Mayang,
55G, Jalan Melati Utama 4
Taman Melati Utama, Setapak
53100 Kuala Lumpur

I've posted about this restaurant some time back but was frankly engrossed with its its interior. This time, let’s take a closer look at the food!

Naturally their specialty is nasi dagang
Brendan had nasi dagang with chicken
While we had it with fish
The keropok was a little stale, but edible
you won't miss it

Forced Hiatus!

It would have been exactly seven months to the day since our last post.  A lot has happened since then, and without going into details ou...
