Saturday Stroll │KL Sentral • NU Sentral • Sogo KL

Saturday Stroll

I received an email from Skechers Malaysia about a 50% offer when purchasing at least three items. Intrigued, we left our condo at 11:30am and walked to the bus stop in front of Sarah Hughes (formerly Globe Silk Store) along Jalan TAR.

After a considerable wait, we finally caught the GOKL Red Line free bus to KL Sentral, where we alighted and headed into NU Sentral.

Early Lunch

Since we hadn’t eaten all morning, we browsed a few options before settling on Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar for an early lunch. We both had white rice with chicken dishes and vegetables, plus sugarless iced tea. Our meal came to RM42.95 (approximately USD/EUR9).

After a quick break, we walked into the Skechers store.

Skechers Haul

True enough, the promotion was real — 50% off when buying three items. We picked up three pairs of shoes (two for me, one for Cat) for RM778.50 (approximately USD165/EUR154), averaging RM259.50 (approximately USD55/EUR51) per pair.

L’Occitane Treats

My sister Vivien gifted me a bottle of L’Occitane Cap Cedrat EDT many Christmases ago, and it remains my favourite. So we made our way to the L’Occitane store. With the help of Amier, the bubbly and energetic salesperson, we bought three bottles of perfume and a body lotion for RM918.00 (approximately USD195/EUR182) — and he even ensured we enjoyed RM100 (approximately USD21/EUR20) off the final total.

Heading Back

With both errands done, we returned to the bus stop outside KL Sentral and caught another GOKL Red Line bus to KL City Hall. From there, we walked a short distance to SOGO and picked up refreshments from Kenangan Coffee.

We then made our way back home.

What’s Next

We’ll be spending Christmas in Penang again this year, so please stay tuned.

Restoran SEREMBAN Seafood Village

Seremban

We picked you up again after checking into Arena Premier Boutique Hotel and settling in for the afternoon. With the very generous portions from Toast House Kitchen still percolating in our perut, it wasn’t until 8:30pm that we finally emerged from our room in search of dinner.

Top on our list was Restoran Seremban Seafood Village. Known among locals for its grilled or baked crab, we knew we had to give it a try. We hailed a Grab for RM6.00 (≈ USD/EUR1), which dropped us off at its unique entrance — a staircase leading down into the dining area.

Dinner

We browsed the menu and, after some consideration, ordered:

  • Kam Heong Fried Crabs
  • Fu Yong Omelette
  • 2 White Rice
  • 1 Herbal Tea
  • 1 small Heineken

Our seafood dinner — which unfortunately attracted a service tax — still came to a respectable RM164.75, with the crab alone costing RM120.00 (≈ USD35/EUR32).

Once we were done, we hailed another Grab back to the hotel for RM5.00 (≈ USD/EUR1).

What’s Next

Stay tuned for our next video as we spend another 24 hours in lush padi fields.

ARENA Premier Boutique Hotel: SEREMBAN

Humble Abode

We picked you up again after lunch at Toast House Kitchen. I had contacted Arena Premier Boutique Hotel earlier and was told we could check in at 2:00pm. We walked over to BiBi and drove the short distance to the relatively new hotel. With 99 guestrooms and suites, it sits within a newly developed commercial area filled with eateries offering a variety of cuisines — all within walking distance.

We booked a Deluxe Twin Room at a discounted price of RM223.56 (≈ USD48/EUR44), and were pleased with the clean, well appointed room that felt warm and cosy. Our spacious room came with a safe deposit box, flat screen TV, coffee and tea facilities, and two super single beds.

We’ll let our footage paint the full picture, but the room was clean, roomy, and new — exactly what we hoped for. With so many eateries nearby, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Seremban.

We settled in for the afternoon and looked forward to trying the hotel’s breakfast the next morning.

Toast House Kitchen: Lunch in SEREMBAN

Lunch in Seremban

We picked you up again after arriving in Seremban at 12:00pm and making our way to The Nest Café for lunch. We had read rave reviews about this husband and wife run spot offering fusion cuisine and French patisserie, and were eager to try it for ourselves.

Unfortunately, The Nest Café was closed until evening.

We crossed the street to survey the other eateries in the area and eventually settled on Toast House Kitchen. We browsed the menu and decided on:

• My favourite Curry Chicken Katsu Rice
• Cat’s Hainanese Chicken Chop
• Jasmine Kumquat Juice
• Coca Cola

Our meal came to RM82.50 (≈ USD17/EUR16). A little pricey, but the very generous portions more than made up for it.

I contacted the hotel where we would be spending the night and was told we could check in at 2:00pm, which left us with an hour to enjoy this delightfully cosy café.

The food was sumptuous, the environment calm and relaxing, and it was the perfect way to ease into our Seremban weekend.

After lunch, we walked over to BiBi and drove the short distance to Arena Premier Boutique Hotel.

Be sure to catch our next video of the hotel — our impressions of the room, plus the buffet breakfast we had the next morning.

📍 Location:

SEREMBAN in 24 Hours!

Seremban

Despite being only an hour away, the state capital of Negeri Sembilan is a town we’ve often overlooked, usually choosing to continue south to Melaka instead. For many KL folk, Seremban is simply a stop over on the way to Port Dickson.

Brendan was sleeping over at a friend’s house after attending a Halloween party, so it was just Cat and I leaving our condo at 9:15am.

Morning Errands

We had an appointment with Jordan at The Guitar Store in Taman Segar to pick up a small guitar amplifier. We arrived early, so we walked into Kaw Kaw Pakkopi next door for breakfast.

I had toast with half boiled eggs, while Cat tried the steamed bread. With drinks, breakfast came to RM24.40 (≈ USD/EUR5).

Just as we finished, Jordan texted to say someone was waiting for us at the store. We strolled over and met Jayx, who presented us with the Roland Cube 10GX — an old school guitar amp perfect for bedroom practice. I tested it, loved it, and paid RM600.00 (≈ USD128/EUR118).

We stored the amp in BiBi and began our drive to Seremban. Instead of the North–South Expressway, we opted for the Kajang SILK Highway and then the LEKAS Highway for a quieter, more peaceful drive.

Lunch in Seremban

We arrived in Seremban at 12:00pm and headed to The Nest Café, which had received rave reviews. Unfortunately, it was closed until evening. We walked across the street to survey the other eateries and eventually settled on Toast House Kitchen.

Please be sure to catch our upcoming video of our sumptuous meal there.

Checking In

After lunch, we walked back to BiBi and drove a short distance to Arena Premier Boutique Hotel. Be sure to catch our video of the hotel, our impressions of the room, and the buffet breakfast we had the next morning.

We settled in for the afternoon.

Dinner at Seremban Seafood Village

At sundown, with nothing planned, we decided to try Restoran Seremban Seafood Village, famous among locals for its grilled or baked crab. We knew we had to give it a go — and we hope you’ll catch the next video of our dinner there.

The Next Morning

We woke up early and headed down to the hotel’s namesake coffee house, Arena, for breakfast. After eating, we returned to the room, rested a bit, packed up, and checked out of Arena Premier Boutique Hotel.

We then made our way back to the LEKAS Highway for an uneventful hour’s drive home to Kuala Lumpur.

What’s Next

November will be a quiet month as we gear up for Christmas — but you never know what we’ll get up to, so stay tuned.
