Stepping Out
We left our home at Menara City One Condo at half past eleven, taking the lift down to the quiet lobby and stepping out into the warm city air. With no rush and no real plan, we walked along Jalan Munshi Abdullah toward our regular bus stop, letting the slow rhythm of a late Saturday guide us into the day.
Toward KLCC
At the stop, we boarded a RapidKL #300 bus heading to KLCC for just RM1.00 (≈ USD0.25/EUR0.21). We rode familiar streets before getting off at Avenue K, then crossed Jalan Ampang, surrounded by traffic, tall buildings, and steady city noise.
We soon reached Four Seasons Place, where cool air and quiet replaced the heat outside. Heading up one floor to Decathlon, we browsed without hurry. With an upcoming trip in mind, we picked up swimwear and quick dry shorts along with our other purchases. Our total came to RM330.00 (≈ USD83/EUR71).
Free Rides and Vietnamese Lunch
When we stepped outside again, it was already past 1:15 in the afternoon. We walked to the bus stop in front of KLCC and boarded a free GOKL Green Line bus to Pavilion.
Getting off at the Fahrenheit 88 stop, an escalator carried us up toward the monorail station. From there, we crossed the familiar footbridge into Sungai Wang Plaza, leaving the sounds and smells of the street behind.
Inside the mall, we took an elevator up to the third floor and followed long, quiet corridors lined with mostly empty shops. At the end, we arrived at Vinh City, a Vietnamese restaurant we enjoy. With Hanoi still fresh in our memories, we ordered beef pho, fish cake bun cha, fried spring rolls, iced green tea, and Vietnamese drip coffee. The bill came to RM66.80 (≈ USD17/EUR14).
Food for Later
After lunch, we wandered through JUMPA at Sungai Wang, passing many small eateries filled with cooking smells and quiet chatter. Eventually, we decided to take dinner home from Kakatoo, known for Nyonya style food. We ordered two squid sambal dishes and one fried chicken nasi lemak, totaling RM69.65 (≈ USD18/EUR15).
Before leaving, we made one last stop at Auntie Anne’s, drawn in by the warm, sweet smell of baked dough. We picked up cinnamon sticks and sausage sticks for RM19.90 (≈ USD5/EUR4).
Heading Home
We took an elevator up to the first floor and crossed the footbridge over busy Jalan Sultan Ismail, traffic humming below and a monorail gliding past beside us. Down a staircase at Lot 10, we stepped back into heavy foot traffic, passed Fahrenheit 88, and made our way to the bus stop opposite Pavilion.
Soon, a free GOKL Blue Line bus carried us back to Jalan Munshi Abdullah. From there, it was just a short, familiar walk home.
Looking Ahead
As the day faded, our thoughts drifted beyond the city streets we know so well. Soon, the noise of traffic would give way to softer sounds, where mornings begin with light on water and evenings end with salt in the air. This simple city day felt like a quiet breath before a journey shaped by tides, warmth, and horizons waiting just beyond sight.
