Hello everyone! We are Cat and Harold from Kuala Lumpur. Welcome to our vlog, created to catalogue our memories, life’s events and travels.
Why “Have Perut Will Travel”? It’s a play on words from an old Western TV show called “Have Gun - Will Travel”, but we let our tummies lead the way ❣️

BKK Day 9 │ Christmas Day • Maeklong Railway Market!
🎄 Christmas Day Adventure: Maeklong Railway Market
Bangkok on Christmas Day? Yes, please! We kicked off the festive morning bright and early—up at 5:45 AM and out the door by 6:30 AM—for a bucket-list experience: a full-day guided tour of two iconic Thai attractions.
✅ Tour Details
I booked the “Damnoen Saduak Floating Market & Maeklong Railway Market Full-Day Guided Tour” via https://www.bangkok-tickets.com/ for THB 950 (≈ MYR 124 / USD 31 / EUR 26) per person. The package included:
We Grab-ed our way to Hug Thai Zone at Central World for THB 111 (≈ MYR15/USD4/EUR3). With time to spare, we explored Central World and discovered Casa Lapin, a chic café tucked inside an office lobby.
☕ Coffee Stop at Casa Lapin
Our order:
2 Iced Thai Milk Teas
1 Hot Caramel Macchiato
1 Egg Tart
Total: THB 580 (≈ MYR76/USD19/EUR16)
🚌 On the Road
After check-in at Hug Thai Zone, we boarded the bus at 7:20 AM. Our guide, Jackson, was a lively and informative host, sharing tips and fun facts about the day’s itinerary.
First stop: The Buffalo Amphawa for a quick break and souvenirs (THB 780 ≈ MYR100/USD25/EUR21). Then, onward to the highlight—Maeklong Railway Market!
🌟 Maeklong Railway Market: Thailand’s Most Unique Market
Located in Samut Songkhram Province, about 70 km west of Bangkok, Maeklong Railway Market (aka Talad Rom Hub) is unlike any other. This bustling market sits right on an active railway line. Vendors sell fresh seafood, fruits, and local goods along the tracks. When a train approaches, they swiftly fold back awnings and move their goods—then resume business as usual once the train passes.
A Bit of History
Dating back to 1905, the market began as a hub for fishermen. Today, it’s a vibrant local market and a top tourist attraction, famous for its dramatic train-passing scenes. The spectacle happens several times daily—perfect for photographers and cultural explorers.
🍽 Brunch by the Tracks
We stopped at Punjung Café, right beside the railway, and ordered:
Omelette Rice
Rice in Soup
Pad Khra Pow
Extra Omelette
Passion Fruit Juice
Apple Soda
Water
Hot Mocha
Total: THB 800 (≈ MYR 104 / USD 26 / EUR 22)
At 11:10 AM, we witnessed the train arriving—a thrilling moment straight out of travel blogs! By 11:30 AM, the same train departed for Bangkok, and we headed back to the bus for the next leg of our adventure.
🎥 Coming Up Next…
Stay tuned for the second part of this tour: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market—Thailand’s most famous floating market!
