🚌 On the Road

After check-in at Hug Thai Zone, we boarded the bus at 7:20 AM. Our guide, Jackson, was a lively and informative host, sharing tips and fun facts about the day’s itinerary.

First stop: The Buffalo Amphawa for a quick break and souvenirs (THB 780 ≈ MYR100/USD25/EUR21). Then, onward to the highlight—Maeklong Railway Market!

🌟 Maeklong Railway Market: Thailand’s Most Unique Market

Located in Samut Songkhram Province, about 70 km west of Bangkok, Maeklong Railway Market (aka Talad Rom Hub) is unlike any other. This bustling market sits right on an active railway line. Vendors sell fresh seafood, fruits, and local goods along the tracks. When a train approaches, they swiftly fold back awnings and move their goods—then resume business as usual once the train passes.

A Bit of History

Dating back to 1905, the market began as a hub for fishermen. Today, it’s a vibrant local market and a top tourist attraction, famous for its dramatic train-passing scenes. The spectacle happens several times daily—perfect for photographers and cultural explorers.

🍽 Brunch by the Tracks

We stopped at Punjung Café, right beside the railway, and ordered:

  • Omelette Rice
  • Rice in Soup
  • Pad Khra Pow
  • Extra Omelette
  • Passion Fruit Juice
  • Apple Soda
  • Water
  • Hot Mocha

Total: THB 800 (≈ MYR 104 / USD 26 / EUR 22)

At 11:10 AM, we witnessed the train arriving—a thrilling moment straight out of travel blogs! By 11:30 AM, the same train departed for Bangkok, and we headed back to the bus for the next leg of our adventure.
