Hello everyone! We are Cat and Harold from Kuala Lumpur. Welcome to our vlog, created to catalogue our memories, life’s events and travels.
Why “Have Perut Will Travel”? It’s a play on words from an old Western TV show called “Have Gun - Will Travel”, but we let our tummies lead the way ❣️

BKK Day 1 │ To Tierra Residences!
Touchdown in Bangkok: Our Home Away from Home
Bangkok, we’re back! After landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we navigated a congested immigration hall that took half an hour before headed to Carousel 23 to collect our trusty yellow submarines (aka luggage). By the time we arrived the yellow submarines were ready and waiting and we were ready to roll.
Smooth Airport Transfer
A week earlier, we arranged an airport pickup with our Airbnb hosts. The instructions were simple: exit via Gate 7. Right on cue, our friendly driver Sammei greeted us there for a fixed fare of THB 1,000 (≈ MYR130 / USD31 / EUR27). By 3:50pm, we were on the road, and forty minutes later, we arrived at Tierra Residences, our chosen sanctuary in the Phra Kanong area.
Why Tierra Residences?
Nestled between Soi Sukhumvit 40 and 42, this quiet and peaceful condo was the perfect choice—especially now with Brendan joining us. The property offers:
A saltwater swimming pool
Fitness center and sun terrace
Open-air bath, restaurant, and bar
Free Wi-Fi throughout
The on-site restaurant is a gem, serving Chinese, American, Thai, and international cuisines for brunch, lunch, dinner, high tea, and cocktails. We loved it during our last stay and highly recommend it.
Check-In & Comfort
Check-in was a breeze. We grabbed our key card and headed to the second floor. The two-bedroom unit was fully equipped: bed linen, towels, two flat-screen TVs, a complete kitchen, and a balcony. A proper desk and chair made working on our videos comfortable—a big plus for us.

Value for Money
At RM329 per night (≈ USD80 / EUR68), this apartment offers fantastic value. Ken and his team are super helpful and welcoming, making Tierra Residences truly feel like home for the next ten nights.
Why Did We Come Back?
A stay at Tierra Residences feels a little like discovering our own private corner of Bangkok—quiet, sun‑washed, and unexpectedly calming, yet only a short walk from the pulse of Sukhumvit.
We arrive after a day of temples, markets, and skytrain rides, and the moment we step inside, the city’s noise seems to fall away. The lobby is simple and warm, the kind of place where the staff greet us with the easy familiarity of people who’ve seen many travelers exhale with relief at the end of a long day.
Our apartment is bright and spacious, with a balcony that catches the late‑afternoon light. There’s a small kitchenette for midnight snacks, a washing machine that makes long trips feel effortless, and a bed that practically insists we stretch out and stay awhile. It feels less like a hotel room and more like a place we could live—comfortably, quietly, contentedly.
In the mornings, we wander down to the saltwater pool, where the water is cool and the air smells faintly of frangipani. Bangkok’s skyline rises in the distance, but here, it’s just us, the sun, and the soft hum of a city waking up. By evening, we might slip into the spa for a massage or stroll to Ekkamai for dinner, knowing we’ll return to a space that feels like our own.
Tierra Residences doesn’t try to dazzle us with extravagance. Instead, it offers something rarer in Bangkok: a peaceful retreat with all the comforts of home, wrapped in the warmth of a neighborhood that feels lived‑in and local. It’s the kind of place we will remember not for grand gestures, but for how effortlessly it lets us settle in.
Stay tuned—we’re about to take our first stroll through Bangkok!
