BKK Day 8 │ Christmas Eve • Fortune Town Again!

A Relaxed Morning Before the Big Evening

After several days of non-stop activities, we planned to take it easy today—especially with a river boat dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya lined up for Christmas Eve. But as luck would have it, I was wide awake at 7;00am!

I spent the early hours editing our mountain of video clips by the pool, laptop in tow, munching on sandwiches and sipping a Caramel Macchiato. Bliss!

By 8:45 AM, my laptop battery gave up, so I headed back upstairs for a quick shower. Cat woke up, Brendan stayed snoozing, and by 11 AM we were finally out the door. To save time (and energy for tonight), we grabbed a THB199 Grab ride (≈ MYR26/USD6/EUR5) straight to Fortune Town.

Back to Fortune Town – For That Guitar!

Yesterday, a yellow guitar at iGuitar Music caught my eye. Today, I decided to make it mine.

Traffic was brutal—5 minutes for 1 km! That got us thinking: maybe we should leave earlier for the dinner cruise later?

Since I’d need to check the guitar in for our flight back to Kuala Lumpur, I opted for a hard case too. Here’s what I scored:

  • Squier FSR Affinity Series Stratocaster (Graffiti Yellow) – THB9,900
  • 8 Box Tour Series Electric Guitar Hardcase – THB2,600
  • Valeton GP-200 Gig Bag – THB990

Total: THB13,490 (≈ MYR1,759/USD424/EUR369)

Not bad for a guitar that truly spoke to me! The FSR (Fender Special Run) means it’s a limited edition color—so yes, I’m absolutely thrilled.

Lunch & Waiting Game

Tong, the friendly staff at iGuitar, asked us to wait an hour for the hard case and gig bag to arrive from their warehouse. So we wandered over to Food World on the same floor.

Cat enjoyed Pork Knuckle with Rice and a 22oz Pepsi, while I added a Mango Smoothie. Total damage: THB167 (≈ MYR22/USD5/EUR5).

By 1:15 PM, our gear arrived. I paid up, and we headed back to Tierra Residences via another Grab ride (THB251 ≈ MYR33/USD8/EUR7).
