BKK Day 7 │ Ekkamai Food Crawl!

Ekkamai Food Crawl!

Morning Vibes: Street Food & Local Market Finds

The day started bright and early at Tierra Residences, where we worked on videos before heading out. Since the free shuttle to Gateway Ekkamai wasn’t available on Tuesdays, we strolled to Sukhumvit 42 Road—and stumbled upon a hidden gem: DERNLEN Market.

This lively flea market was buzzing with food stalls serving authentic Thai breakfast. Here’s what we ordered:

  • Rice Vermicelli Soup
  • Flat Noodle Soup
  • Pad Thai with Egg
  • 2 Iced Milk Teas
  • Hot Mocha

💰 Total: THB305 (≈ MYR40/USD10/EUR8)

Getting Around: EV Bus & MRT Adventure

After breakfast, we hopped on the 40 (4-39) EV bus for just THB20 (≈ MYR3/USD1/EUR1) each.

Morning rush hour made the ride slow, but soon we were at Asok BTS. Be sure catch the previous video of how we got on at our eventual destination: Fortune Town!

Reverse engineering everything and we were back at Asok BTS, we then caught the EV bus from Robinson Sukhumvit back to Sukhumvit 42. Here we booked a nail appointment at Bamboo Nails, then grabbed lunch at Khluai Nam Thai:

  • Steamed Chicken Rice
  • Roasted Chicken Rice
  • Fried Wonton Fritters
  • Chrysanthemum Tea
  • Longan Tea

💰 Total: THB160 (≈ USD21/EUR5/MYR4).

Post-lunch, it was spa time! A manicure + pedicure cost me just THB700 (≈ MYR91/USD23/EUR19), while Cat enjoyed a foot massage for THB300 (≈ MYR39/USD10/EUR8).

Dinner Twist: KFC at Rama 4 Road

Instead of street food, we went for KFC at the PTT station. Despite ordering 3 sets by mistake, plus 2 Chick & Roll buns, the bill was only THB399 (≈ MYR52/USD13/EUR11). Juicy chicken, happy hearts!

Final Thoughts

From flea market flavors to tech treasures and pampering indulgence, this Bangkok day was packed with surprises. Stay tuned for our next adventure—picking up a Christmas gift at Fortune Town!
