KCH Day 5 │ Morning Errands • Premier Food Republic!

Will We See Orangutans?

We had tried visiting the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre a few years ago, but constant rain ruined our plans. This time, we were determined — mornings in Kuching are usually dry, so we were hopeful.

But last night’s heavy downpour cast doubt. I woke up at 6:00am to find that it was still raining. That meant the orangutans would probably stay hidden. We went back to sleep, and I woke again at 8:00am while Cat continued her beauty sleep.

A Slow, Rainy Morning

I took a short walk to Kim Coffee Garden for an iced milk coffee and toast — RM6.40 well spent. Back at Adelyn’s homestay, I showered and worked on our videos for the next couple of hours.

Cat woke up an hour later. After she showered, we walked to Everwin to pick up a couple of beers and a bar of soap, then stopped by a nearby coffee shop for drinks. Once home, I continued editing while Cat started a load of laundry.

By noon, the laundry was done — and so were we. Time for lunch.

Lunch at Premier Food Republic

We left at 12:10pm and drove to Premier Food Republic at the ninth mile of Jalan Penrissen. The drive took about 30 minutes. We kept things simple and ordered:

  • 2 Kedondong (Ambarella)
  • Sausage Fried Rice
  • Kueh Chap Rice

Lunch came to RM26.10 (≈ USD6/EUR5).

Off to Semenggoh

With our stomachs full and the weather finally clearing up, we continued our drive toward the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.

Stay tuned for the next video to find out whether we finally managed to catch a glimpse of an orangutan.
