CAM Day 4 │ TANAH RATA to KL: Going Home!

Going Home

We woke up at 7:45am and made our way down to the laundromat at 8:30am. After depositing our clothes in the washer, we walked across the street to Yong Teng Café for breakfast. After the luxurious meals of the past few days, it felt good to enjoy something simple and down to earth.

Yong Teng Café is run by an elderly couple who are both hearing and speech impaired. We ordered:

  • 2 Nasi Lemak with Fried Egg
  • Toast Bread with Kaya Butter
  • 1 Hot Coffee with Milk
  • 1 Hot Tea with Milk
  • 1 Hot Lemon Tea

All for a very reasonable RM22.00 (≈ USD/EUR).

While having breakfast, we dashed back to the laundromat to move our clothes from the washer to the dryer. By the time we finished eating, our laundry was done too.

Checking Out

We returned to the Airbnb to pack our freshly washed clothes. At 10:15am, we checked out, deposited the key and card at the designated spot, and slowly strolled to the Tanah Rata Bus Terminal.

Since we rode Unititi Express to get here, we decided to give their rival, CS Express, a chance for the return trip.

The CS Express bus, registration JRH9722, arrived at 10:55am and departed Tanah Rata at 11:02am.

Almost immediately, we noticed a marked difference in service between the two companies — and made a mental note to stick with Unititi from now on.

The Journey Back

Twenty minutes later, the bus reached Ringlet and made a lengthy stop to pick up a couple of passengers who loaded what felt like a boatload of belongings — as though they were moving house.

After another hour of twists and turns, we passed the Tapah Toll Plaza at 12:50pm, then made a pit stop at the Tapah R&R along the North–South Expressway.

The bus resumed its journey at 1:15pm, and about an hour and a half later, we drove past the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza.

We arrived at KL Sentral at 2:50pm, collected our bags, and headed in for a late lunch.

Late Lunch at KL Sentral

We settled on Meals Station and ordered:

  • 2 Nasi Lemak Ayam Pandan
  • Blackpepper Grilled Chicken Chop
  • French Fries
  • 2 Coca Colas
  • Fizzy Sour Plum

All for RM65.10 (≈ USD14/EUR13).

Lunch done, we walked back to the main exit of KL Sentral and hailed a six seater Grab for RM22.00 (≈ USD5/EUR4) back to our condo.

Until Next Time

Thus ended our Highlands adventurising — cool air, winding roads, strawberries, tea, and birthday memories.

Until the next time!
