UAE2020 Day 05: Hatta Water Dam

We were quite amused by the name given to this place: Hatta Water Dam. What other kinds of dam are there in the UAE?

a popular picnic destination

with scenic mountain views

its  greenish blue waters

is well worth a drive

various water activities are available

and awaits us

so what are we waiting for?

we'll be heading down later

to enjoy a serene boat ride around the lake

fun to be had

while we take in the sights

of the Hajar Mountains

A Dubai enclave high in the Hajar Mountain range, this dam has a crystal clear lake and a scenic view of the mountain range.

smiley happy people

the UV rays were intense

the blue-green water awaits

headed down to the lake

we had the lake to ourselves

As the tourist pages suggests, no visit here would be complete without a serene boat ride around the lake. We duly obliged.

Ginny and Sern opted for the big boat

headed to the quay

someone can hardly wait

and we're off

the rest of the photos are scenes of the mountains...

taken from the comfort of the large boat

contrast of the dark mountains against the turquoise water

highest mountain range in the eastern Arabian peninsula

also known as "Oman Mountains"

separates the low coastal plain from the high desert plateau

Ḥajar (حَجَر) means "Stone" or "Rock"

occupying parts of the east of the UAE

ideal place for a breath of fresh air

gets extremely cold during winter

it’s important to pack well if on a day trip

full of historical spots

including archaeological sites of Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ayn

these ruins will thrill any history lover

end of our visit to this beautiful mountain range

A quarter of an hour later we got back to the shores of the lake, and took in some sights from the top of the dam before heading to our next stop: Hatta Heritage Village.
