My sister Virginia (Ginny) and her husband Vincent (Vince… yeah I know, they were meant to be together even if it’s only for the names, hehehe) were in town and had a hankering for banana leaf. Since they stay in Mont Kiara and we wanted them along on our usual weekend food escapades Kashmir seemed the logical choice (distance wise).

In all honesty we tried coming here some time ago but could not find the place at the time. This time, armed with pin-point accuracy our GPS navigator successfully got us to Kashmir.

enticing

looked very promising

Kashmir looked an upscale banana leaf joint in the vein of Bangsar’s Nirwana (although not as pricey I think) and its floor space pretty diminutive. No matter, the smell of curries and spices wafting through the air put paid to our reservations as we eagerly placed our orders.

pretty appetizing set meals

Brendan tried the Mutton Briyani set; Cat and I sampled the Chicken Briyani set while Ginny and Vince opted for the ‘healthier’ Veggie Banana Leaf set. It has to be said their resolve for the healthier alternative were soon ruined as they eventually succumbed to their desires and went for a side order of Fried Chicken and Squid, hehehe. Coming all the way from Abu Dhabi and not eating to their hearts’ content? No way Jose!

Ginny absolutely delighted

they missed this in Abu Dhabi

condiments like no other

Cat and I had the...

while Ginny and Vince opted for the...

healthier alternative (though their resolve did not last!)

to wash it all down

We quite enjoyed our meals and Kashmir provided a cosy ambience for us to spend quality time as we caught up with each other’s latest happenings. And oh, before we forget the damage came to a respectable RM72 (or RM14.40 each… please bear in mind that this was for four adults and an ever-hungry adolescent) so all in all it was still within the realms of the everyday food for the everyday person. If you’re ever in these neck of the woods and in the mood for some banana leaf fare served in a comfortable cosy environment we highly recommend you try out Kashmir.
