IZZAT & ADIBA ┃ A Wedding Reception!

Izzat & Adiba

As mentioned last week, today we attended my colleague Izzat’s wedding. A graphic designer who joined my department a couple of years ago, he has spent months planning (and saving) for his big day. Today was the first of two receptions — this one hosted by Adiba’s family. We’ll be attending Izzat’s family’s reception next weekend as well.

We left our home at 12:30pm and made our way down to where BiBi was parked. After punching the destination into Waze, we began our drive to Gombak, which took about half an hour. Unfortunately, we missed the very last turn and had to make a huge loop, costing us another fifteen minutes.

The Wedding

The reception was held at Dewan Astana Puteri Gombak, a converted warehouse beside a volunteer fire station. We parked at the designated lot and walked into the hall, taking a slow, steady entrance shot for the vlog.

The hall was tastefully decorated and already in full swing. We hoped our footage would do it justice.

We took our seats, then headed to the buffet for Nasi Minyak with chicken and beef dishes. At our table were colleagues from my office, and a little while later our CEO joined us. Once everyone had eaten, we waited our turn for a photo with the bride and groom.

Errands After the Reception

After saying our goodbyes, we hopped back into BiBi and drove to the dry cleaners. I had worn a suit earlier in the week that needed cleaning and pressing, and I had also recently bought a purple suit for an upcoming annual dinner that needed pressing too.

We drove to Drop & Wash along Jalan Tun Razak — but the person at the counter was so rude that I stormed off with both suits still in hand. We then tried another dry cleaner along Jalan Putra in Chow Kit.

This time, we were treated with dignity and respect. They asked us to collect the suits in a couple of days.

With that settled, we drove back home.

What’s Next

Stay tuned as we spend 48 hours in Putrajaya next weekend — and if you’re lucky, we might even share footage of my band’s performance during the annual dinner.
