KCH Day 5 │ DARUL HANA Bridge

Darul Hana Bridge — Kuching’s Shining Icon

On our penultimate night in Kuching, and after our simple dinner at Tower Market, we took a slow stroll toward the Darul Hana Bridge. This S shaped pedestrian suspension bridge, opened to the public in November 2017, has become one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.

Its two viewing decks offer excellent 360 degree panoramic views of the Sarawak River — the kind of scenery that makes you pause, breathe, and take it all in.

A Bridge That Defines a City

The bridge was designed to complement the new State Legislative Assembly Complex (DUN), forming a dynamic urban landscape set against elegant parks and water features. Together, they create a visual identity that is unmistakably Kuching.

This RM35 million structure links the Kuching Waterfront on the south bank to the new DUN, the Botanical and Orchid Gardens, and the villages and attractions on the north bank. It also connects pedestrians to the city centre’s highlights — Plaza Merdeka, the international hotel strip, and the cafés around the old Court House.

A bridge that isn’t just a crossing, but a connector of communities.

What’s Next

Be sure to catch our next video of the Darul Hana Musical Fountain — the perfect finale to our last night in Kuching.
