Darul Hana Musical Fountain — Music, Light, and River Magic
On our penultimate night in Kuching, and after our simple dinner at Tower Market, we took a slow stroll along the Darul Hana Bridge. We reached the end of the bridge, then doubled back just in time to catch the spectacular Darul Hana Musical Fountain show — one of the highlights of the Kuching Waterfront.
The fountain sits directly in front of the beautifully illuminated Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building (DUN), and when the show begins, the entire riverfront transforms. What was moments ago a calm, dark stretch of water suddenly bursts into life.
The fountain jets shoot up in perfect rhythm to the music — sometimes gentle and swaying, sometimes powerful and dramatic. Multicoloured lights sweep across the water, painting the river in shades of blue, purple, gold, and red. At its peak, the fountain forms tall arcs that seem to dance across the Sarawak River, with mist drifting toward the bridge like a cool evening breeze.
Every few moments, the lights shift to highlight the DUN building behind it, making the entire scene feel like a grand stage performance. The reflections on the water double the spectacle — lights above, lights below, all moving in harmony.
The show lasts only a few minutes, but it feels immersive, almost cinematic. Locals and tourists alike pause along the waterfront, phones raised, children pointing excitedly, couples leaning on the railings to take it all in. It’s one of those Kuching moments that feels both festive and peaceful at the same time.
A Four Minute Treat
We hope you’ll enjoy our 4 minute footage of this excellent musical fountain show. It’s one of those Kuching experiences that feels both grand and intimate — a perfect way to close out our final night by the river.
Tomorrow, we leave on a jet plane 😔
