Chilling in Venice Grand Canal
Right after my consultation with AD and Troy at Inkvictus Tattoo, we picked you up again and hopped into a Grab bound for Venice Grand Canal. The ride came to PHP169.95 (≈ MYR11/USD3/EUR2) — quick, smooth, and just enough time to reset before stepping into Manila’s playful slice of Italy.
The moment we arrived, the vibe shifted. Pastel façades, arched bridges, and that bright turquoise canal pulled us straight into a themed postcard. Venice Grand Canal isn’t just a mall; it’s a mood — colourful, theatrical, and perfect for slow wandering.
A Snappier Look at Venice Grand Canal Mall
Venice Grand Canal feels like a compact, cinematic escape. The canal is the star, with gondoliers in striped shirts gliding guests through the water, creating a scene that’s endlessly photogenic. Cafés and restaurants line the edges, offering plenty of spots to sit back, sip something cold, and watch the “Venetian” world drift by.
The architecture adds to the charm — faux Italian balconies, bridges, and pastel storefronts that make every corner feel like a set piece. Small boutiques and lifestyle shops dot the walkways, perfect for light browsing rather than full retail marathons. The atmosphere shifts throughout the day, from breezy calm in the morning to lively crowds and weekend performances later on.
It’s a place built for vibes: strolling, snacking, taking photos, and soaking in a playful escape right in Taguig.
Lunch at Mesa
By two in the afternoon, hunger finally caught up with us — and remembering AD’s recommendations, we headed to Mesa. We ordered Kare kare Beef and Tripe, Sisig Tinapa, two bottled waters, a shared Halo Halo, and half a bowl of steamed rice. A hearty, flavour packed spread that came to PHP1,160 (≈ MYR76/USD19/EUR16).
Truth be told, the Sisig Tinapa didn’t sit well with me. The garlic, onions, and smoked fish combo overwhelmed my palate almost instantly, and that bowl of steamed rice became my quick rescue. Still, sampling local cuisine is part of the adventure — priceless in its own way.
With lunch done, we wandered back into the mall, browsing the indoor outlets and checking out a few stores.
A Final Stop Before Heading Home
Our last mission was a quick sweep through the Levi’s store in search of the elusive denim bucket hat — but no luck this round. Before calling it a day, we made a final pit stop at The Marketplace, grabbing pastries for PHP289.75 (≈ MYR19/USD5/EUR4) to enjoy later.
Then came our ride home: a Grab for PHP279.89 (≈ MYR18/USD5/EUR4) back to One Uptown Residence.
Back at One Uptown — And Gearing Up for a Night Walkabout
We were picked up at a quarter past four and reached the studio apartment about half an hour later, pastries in hand and feet finally getting a break after a full day of canals, food, and browsing.
But the day wasn’t over.
