LALAPORT BBCC Walkabout

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

Yesterday was Wesak Day, also known as Buddha Jayanti, Buddha Purnima and Buddha Day, a holiday traditionally observed by Buddhists in South Asia and Southeast Asia as well as Tibet and Mongolia. The festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha in Theravada, Tibetan Buddhism and Navayana.

Since it fell on a Sunday today was observed as a public holiday. Bitten by the walkabout bug Cat and I woke up reasonably early and headed to the Medan Tuanku Monorail Station near our home. Ten minutes and five stops later we arrived at Hang Tuah Monorail Station, situated right beside LaLaport BBCC Bukit Bintang City Centre, which was our destination today.

We were quite early and with some time to spare before LaLaport BBCC opened for business we sat down at a café to have our morning coffee. Our compliments to the young barista at Monét LaLaport BBCC for the excellent service, and coffee, of course.

We then headed into LaLaport BBCC and wanted around the main foyer admiring its beautifully decorated lobby aptly called “Vivid Eid” before heading up to Level 3 where the Japanese furniture and lifestyle store, Nitori was. We spent some time there and, in the end, bought a comfortable Kuroudo work chair. While I was fine with the present gaming chair, I was looking for one that could flip the arm rest up so that it would not be in the way when I play guitar.

The chair would be delivered in a few days’ time, and with time on our hands we then browsed the electrical store next door, Nojima. Nothing struck our fancy, so we then headed down to the Lower Ground Level to have brunch. We strolled through the limited stalls at the Kafeteria food court, but apart from the Nang Haus drinks stall nothing else seemed appealing.

We then walked to the other end of the level before finally settling on Sai Kee Restaurant, where we can apparently immerse ourselves in a “unique, authentic and Old School Cantonese 'Dai Chao' food experience.” Established in 1950 at one of the back lanes of Petaling Street, Sai Kee claimed to be one of the pioneer Chinese food stalls in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown.

I had the Chicken with Bitter Gourd and rice while Cat tried the Nyonya Style Fish Fillet and rice. Both dishes came with Jasmine tea and cost us RM13.90 each, while in our minds were very reasonable priced given the location. The taste was just 'okay' and we doubt if we would be paying Sai Kee a second visit.

We then went in search of a clinic for some ointment for a rash, and after seeking directions from a helpful security personnel found a clinic on Level 4. Mediviron Clinic was however closed but turned out it was situated at an exit that led out to a courtyard. We spent some time enjoying the view before taking an elevator back down to the Lower Ground Level where Cat wanted to sample the drinks from Nang Haus.

We then walked out of LaLaport BBCC and headed to the Hang Tuah LRT Station. Barely five minutes and three stops later we arrived at Bandaraya LRT Station. Within ten minutes we were back home, and with that end our video here.

While not wanting to be a wet blanket or anything, we feel that it is our civic duty to remind everyone that while masks are optional outdoors, it is still mandatory indoors!
