Going Home from Penang
We woke up at six in the morning and got ready for the journey home. Most of our packing was already done the night before, so we were ready to leave about an hour later.
Early Start to Queensbay Mall
We sent a message to the hotel to let them know we were checking out, then booked a six seater Grab car to Queensbay Mall. The ride cost RM24.00 (≈ USD/EUR5). Our Aeroline bus was scheduled to depart at 8:30am.
The Grab car arrived at 6:50am, and we reached Queensbay Mall about twenty five minutes later.
Waiting It Out
With more than an hour to spare, we settled down at the Starbucks seating area in the mall’s north zone. When Starbucks opened at eight, we bought a caramel macchiato that came with a free doughnut. It was a quiet and relaxed way to start the morning.
Boarding the Bus
At 8:15am, our Aeroline bus arrived. We boarded a few minutes later, and the bus left Queensbay Mall at 8:35am. Shortly after, we crossed the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge and passed the toll plaza on the mainland.
We had booked our return tickets quite late but were lucky to get the last two seats on the lower deck. At first, we worried they might be uncomfortable because of their location near the washroom. In the end, those seats turned out to be great, and we enjoyed our best sleep of the entire trip.
Smooth Ride South
The journey along the North–South Expressway was calm and smooth. Traffic was light, nothing like the long crawl we had faced a few days earlier.
At 10:45am, we stopped briefly at the Simpang Pulai rest area before continuing on. We passed the Jalan Duta toll plaza at one in the afternoon and arrived back at Corus Hotel twenty minutes later.
Home at Last
Brendan was already waiting for us when we arrived. Not long after, we were finally back home by 1:45pm.
Thank you for joining us on our short trip to Penang. Until our next adventure, see you again!
