Melaka, At Last
One month after our epic trip to Kota Kinabalu, we felt the travel itch again. This time, we planned a short and easy getaway to Melaka, our spiritual hometown. It was hard to believe a whole year had passed since our last visit, so we were excited to return to this cosy and familiar city.
Different Plans, Same Destination
Brendan was also heading to Melaka, but for a very different reason. His screamo band, Sauriel, My Beloved, was set to perform there for the second time. He drove separately to meet his bandmates, which meant this trip became a quiet couples’ getaway for us.
The Drive South
We hopped into BiBi and left our condo at nine in the morning. The drive was smooth and relaxed. About an hour and a half later, we passed the Air Keroh Toll Plaza and officially arrived in Melaka. Our first stop was Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, where we parked in the basement.
Brunch in the Mall
Feeling hungry, we decided to have brunch at Black Canyon inside the mall. It was our first time there, so we took some time to look through the menu before ordering:
- Pad Kra Pao set
- Pad Kra Mao set
- Iced Black Coffee
- Thai Iced Tea
Both sets came with a mini tom yam soup. Our meal came to RM57.80 (≈ USD15/EUR12), which felt very reasonable for a mall location.
A Relaxing Start
To slowly ease into the trip, we treated ourselves to a foot massage at Shu Xin Reflexology. We both chose the 90 minute foot and shoulder massage. The total cost was only RM138.00, and it left us feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of the stay.
By the time we were done, it was almost time to check into our homestay.
What’s Next
Our Melaka adventure was just beginning.
Stay tuned for our next video as we checked into The Apple Residences and continued our time in this beloved city.
Important note: We retracted our previous recommendation of Nestcove Home Management, as we did not support hosts who held on to security deposits longer than necessary. 7 days is a bit much?
