Mall-Hopping Sunday │ Avenue K and Beyond!

Weekend Errands — Avenue K & Ampang Point

We noticed that our wardrobe was starting to feel a little dull and decided it was time for a refresh. A trip to our favourite budget store, Max Fashion, felt like the perfect excuse to head out.

Playing It Safe

With COVID 19 cases rising again, we took all necessary precautions before leaving home:

  • Hand sanitiser
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Extra face masks

We decided not to drive and opted to take the MyRapid bus, something we hadn’t done since the pandemic began.

A Pleasant Stop at Avenue K

A short bus ride later, we arrived at Avenue K, just across from KLCC.

One thing we really liked about this mall was how calm and uncrowded it felt compared to others nearby. It made the whole experience more relaxed and comfortable.

Before shopping, we stopped by the LRT station in the basement to reload our Touch ’n Go cards, then headed up to Max Fashion.

There, we spent some time browsing and picking out a few new t shirts—just what we had set out to do.

Onward to Ampang Point

Next, we hopped on another bus and headed to Ampang Point for lunch at Korea Gomonae, an old favourite of ours.

Unfortunately, the mall itself felt quite different from what we remembered.

  • The space felt cramped
  • Social distancing was difficult
  • Ventilation wasn’t great
  • The overall atmosphere felt a little dated and gloomy

If not for the restaurant, we might not consider returning anytime soon.

Parking had always been a challenge here as well, so taking the bus turned out to be the right decision.

A Quick Stop Before Heading Home

Before leaving, we stopped by Mr DIY to pick up a few essentials—nails and cable ties—then caught another bus back home.

Final Thoughts

  • Avenue K: 👍 Relaxed, easy, and pleasant
  • Ampang Point: 👎 In need of refurbishment and better layout for comfort and safety

Wrapping Up

It wasn’t a big day out, but it was productive:

  • A small wardrobe refresh
  • A simple meal
  • A few errands done

And sometimes, that’s all we needed.

Stay safe, and we’ll catch you in the next walkabout!
