CGK Day 7 │ Soekarno-Hatta to KLIA • MH720

Going Home

We awoke at 7:00am, and since most of our packing was already done, we spent the morning lazing around while I continued working on our videos.

We hit the showers at 10:00am and checked out of the Airbnb an hour later. As usual, we left the unit key and card with the front desk, sent a message to Sigit, then hailed a fixed fare Bluebird taxi for IDR28,000 (≈ MYR8/USD2/EUR2) to BNI City Station.

The taxi dropped us off at the main entrance at 11:40am. We bought our tickets to Bandara Station at Terminal 1. We had just missed the previous train, so the next one at 12:35pm was an hour away. Tickets were IDR75,000 (≈ MYR20/USD5/EUR4) each, so we waited at the lobby until we were allowed through the turnstiles at 12:25pm.

Airport Train & Skytrain

The train arrived on time and gave us a sobering view of daily life in this sprawling metropolis as it passed Duri, Rawa Buaya, and Batu Ceper. We arrived at Bandara Station at 1:29pm.

We took the escalator up to the Skytrain platform and rode to Terminal 3.

At Terminal 3, we headed up to the International Departure Hall. We checked in at a temporary counter along Aisle C, and thanks to our pre purchased luggage allowance, we avoided any penalties.

We then entered the departure area, cleared security and Immigration without issue, and made the long walk to Gate 2.

Lunch Before Boarding

With time to spare before boarding at 2:40pm, we grabbed a quick lunch at Starbucks:

Hot Caramel Macchiato
Iced Raspberry Candy Milk

Total: IDR213,000 (≈ MYR58/USD13/EUR12).

At 2:45pm, we headed to the gate. Boarding was done by groups, and since we were in Group 6, we boarded at 3:30pm.

The Flight Home

MH720 pushed back at 3:40pm and took off at 3:52pm. The weather was good. Half an hour later, meals were served — I had Chicken Balado with rice, while Cat also had chicken with rice (though she forgot the exact style).

An hour later, the plane began its descent and touched down at 5:30pm Malaysian time.

Kudos to Capt Tarmizi and CS Kenny Lim for the excellent flight.

MH720 taxied for twenty minutes before docking. We disembarked, cleared Immigration, collected our luggage at Carousel B, and headed to the KLIA Express Transit station.

The train to KL Sentral departed at 7:20pm and arrived half an hour later. Brendan picked us up at the KLIA Express Arrival doors, and we were home by 8:30pm.
