We eventually visited the “Warnai Raya KLIA2” and paid much attention to one booth in particular, traditional beaded bracelets and other adornments much like what Ashley had gifted us during our last trip to Kuching.
It was indeed a small world when we discovered that the artist Carol Ruran-Joseph was in fact Ashley's Aunt, her mother's cousin to be exact! We spent quite some time at her stall before eventually spending RM430.00 (approximately USD98/EUR88) on an assortment of items which we suspected was heavily discounted.
My necklace was a little short that it looked more like a choker (not my kind of thing!) so she asked us to come back a little later while she extended the necklace. With nothing to do we decided to have drinks at the restaurant across her stall and in no time at all my necklace was ready. I added a Lava Stone bracelet that I could wear to work for RM45.00 (approximately USD10/EUR9).
You can find her at https://www.instagram.com/carolbeadsproject/ and we absolutely love her caption that says "The Gift of my hands is for the glorification of my King".
Her involvement with the Warnai Raya event at KLIA2's Gateway will end this Wednesday the 19th of April 2023, so please hit her up on her Instagram page to browse the various works of art that she produces.
