KCH Day 8 │ KCH to KUL • Kenyalang Park to City One!

Going Home

We woke up at 7:30am and took a slow walk to Kim Coffee Garden for our final breakfast in Kuching. We each had white Kolo Mee, and we also packed two red and two white Kolo Mee to take home. With drinks, breakfast came to RM41.00 (≈ USD10/EUR9).

Back at Adelyn’s homestay, we packed our belongings — all off camera — before filming our farewell. After one last sweep of the house, we placed the keys in the lockbox and sent Adelyn a message letting her know we had left packets of keropok and serunding as souvenirs.

We left at 10:10am and arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) about 25 minutes later.

Returning the Rental Car

Our good buddy Awang Amirul was indisposed again, so I drove the rental car into the airport car park myself. Construction around the area made parking tricky, but we eventually found a spot. I sent Awang Amirul photos of the car’s location before we headed to the Departure Hall.

We weighed our bags — 37 kg total, comfortably within our 40 kg allowance. Considering we arrived with 25 kg, that meant we added 12 kg of Kuching goodies.

Waiting for MH2513

After checking in our luggage and sorting out our carry ons, we cleared Immigration and security at 11:10am and walked to Gate 4. With more than two hours to spare before MH2513’s 1:35pm departure, we went to Makan Makan for drinks and a grilled cheese sandwich — RM30.50 (≈ USD8/EUR7).

I worked on our videos while Cat roamed the Departure Hall and returned with two boxes of Kek Lapis for RM35.00 (≈ USD9/EUR8).

The Flight Home

Boarding began at 1:30pm. We reached our seats fifteen minutes later. Since Brendan had cancelled his seat, a lady was seated between our window and aisle seats — but she kindly swapped with us.

MH2513 pushed back at 1:55pm and took off fifteen minutes later. The flight was uneventful. We were served our inflight meals — Potato with Fish, which we realised wasn’t quite to our liking.

An hour into the flight, MH2513 began its descent, and we touched down at 3:30pm. We collected our luggage from Carousel L and headed to the ERL station. We caught the 4:20pm train and arrived at KL Sentral half an hour later.

Brendan and Puteh picked us up shortly after, and we reached home at 5:10pm. Door to door, the journey took about seven hours — not bad at all.

Until Next Time
