Day 2 │ Adik Beradik Sri Kolam Seafood!

Ikan Celup Tepung!

Despite the strenuous day of home improvements by the time evening came we were still in the mood for a local delicacy where seafood is dipped in flour then deep fried. This particular dish is known as Ikan Celup Tepung and although referencing fish this type of dish includes other seafood as well.

We hopped into BiBi and set course for Kampung Teliput half an hour's drive away away. We were headed to Warung Adik Beradik Sri Kolam Seafood since the restaurant offers unparalleled views of the South China Sea. This also meant that we would have the opportunity to drove across the Terengganu Drawbridge, always an exciting prospect.

After a rather drawn out drive with plenty of gnarly traffic we eventually arrived at Warung Adik Beradik Sri Kolam, and since it was half an hour till closing (at 7:00pm) we hastily ordered:

  • 10 sticks of Keropok Lekor
  • a skewer of Prawns
  • one Ikan Kembung (Chub Mackerel)
  • a round of drinks

for a grand total of RM31.00 (approximately USD7/EUR6). As with most eateries in Kuala Terengganu, this restaurant closes by seven to make way for Isha prayers.

We then took a leisurely drive back to the home, this time avoiding the congested coastal road that led to the Terengganu Drawbridge. We made a pitstop on the way back at Mr DIY along Jalan Tengku Ampuan Mariam for the customary provisions that came to RM119.10 (approximately USD28/EUR24). We also got a deodorant from the 7-Eleven along Jalan Pejabat before finally arriving at the home at half past eight. We then spent the next couple of hours at the home before returning to the rest house to shower and retire for the night.

Stay tuned for our next video as we try to have breakfast at our perennial favourite chicken rice shop, Chuan Kee!
