New Gear Day: DJI Action 4 - Altech Camera • Hawker Chan • Sunny Side Up

New Gear Day Walkabout

It had been a month since we returned from Penang, and work had completely taken over our lives. Today finally felt different. We stepped out with purpose again, ready to create and test new gear.

Upgrading Our Camera

While we loved our DJI Action 3, its low light performance always disappointed us. The day before, we contacted CM from Altech Camera at Berjaya Times Square and arranged a trade in. We exchanged the DJI Action 3 body (along with all its Adventure Combo accessories) for a DJI Action 4 (Standard Combo).

Heading Out

We left our condo at eleven in the morning and walked north along Jalan Munshi Abdullah. We crossed Jalan Dang Wangi, continued west, then turned right onto Jalan Medan Tuanku. From there, we entered Lorong Medan Tuanku 2, turned onto Jalan Sultan Ismail, and took an escalator up to Medan Tuanku Monorail Station.

A few minutes later, we boarded a monorail to Imbi Station for RM2.30 (≈ USD0.60/EUR0.50). We walked straight into Berjaya Times Square and headed to Altech Camera.

The Trade In

At the shop, Eric carefully inspected our DJI Action 3 and gave it the green light. We paid the difference of RM1,000 (≈ USD252/EUR215) and walked out as proud owners of a brand new DJI Action 4.

We immediately clipped the Action 4 onto a lanyard strap and began testing.

Lunch at LaLaport BBCC

We left Berjaya Times Square and walked southwest along Jalan Imbi, then crossed a footbridge straight into LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre.

For lunch, we headed to Hawker Chan, a place that brought back memories from the pandemic years. We ordered:

  • Roasted Pork Rice
  • Kapitan Curry Pork Rice
  • Two glasses of homemade tea

Lunch came to RM39.25 (≈ USD10/EUR8).

After that, we stopped by Jaya Grocer and picked up pastries for dinner for RM40.10 (≈ USD10/EUR9).

More Gear Shopping

We exited LaLaport and took an escalator up to Hang Tuah Monorail Station. A short ride later, we were back at Medan Tuanku for RM2.60 (≈ USD0.70/EUR0.60).

We walked along Jalan Doraisamy to check out the Sunny Side Up flea market, but it felt too loud and pretentious for our taste. We quickly left.

Heading Home

We continued walking south along Jalan Doraisamy, crossed Jalan Dang Wangi, and reached Starbucks Capital Square Tower, only to find it closed for the weekend. From there, we walked back along Jalan Munshi Abdullah and returned home.

First Impressions

Our first impression of the DJI Action 4 was clear: it felt like a solid upgrade, especially for low light shooting. We were excited to push it further in future videos.
Thus ended our mini walkabout.

Stay tuned for our next video, where we hoped to finally wake up early enough to enjoy a peaceful car free Sunday morning.
