Hello everyone! We are Cat and Harold from Kuala Lumpur. Welcome to our vlog, created to catalogue our memories, life’s events and travels.
Why “Have Perut Will Travel”? It’s a play on words from an old Western TV show called “Have Gun - Will Travel”, but we let our tummies lead the way ❣️

BKK Day 2 │ Ekkamai to Ratchathewi!
Gallivanting in Bangkok: Day One Adventures!
Bangkok, here we come! Our first full day in this vibrant city started a little slow—we let ourselves sleep in and didn’t leave the Airbnb until around 10:00am. But hey, that’s what vacations are for, right?
One of the main reasons we returned to Tierra Residences was their super convenient shuttle service to Gateway Ekkamai. It runs every half hour from 8:00am to 5:30pm daily (except Tuesdays). Perfect for getting around without the hassle!
Morning Eats at Gateway Ekkamai
Just as we stepped out, the 10:00am shuttle was ready to roll. Five minutes later, we were at Gateway Ekkamai, heading straight to the Food Lounge on Level 4. First things first: we grabbed a prepaid card for THB 500 and indulged in:
Stir-Fried Wide Noodles
Stir-Fried Vermicelli Noodles
Noodles with Crispy Pork
Hot Latte
EST Cola
All for THB 360 (≈ MYR 47 / USD 11 / EUR 10). Delicious and budget-friendly!
Getting Around: Rabbit Cards Ready!
Next stop: Ekkamai BTS Station. Cat and I already had our Rabbit cards from a previous trip, so this time it was Brendan’s turn. After showing his passport, he got his card for THB 100, and we topped up each card with THB 500 (≈ MYR 65 / USD 16 / EUR 14). With our cards loaded, we hopped on the train bound for Khu Khot and got off at Rachathewi after nine stops.
(Spoiler alert: our shopping spree at Pratunam is coming up in the next video!)
Taxi Trouble & More Shopping
After shopping, we grabbed a taxi back to Rachathewi BTS—big mistake! The driver didn’t turn on the meter and charged us an outrageous THB 200 (≈ MYR 26/ USD 6 / EUR 5) for a 1 kilometre ride! Travel Tip: Always insist on using the meter or book via Grab to avoid scams.
Back on the BTS, we headed to Gateway Ekkamai for round two of shopping:
Before catching the shuttle back, we grabbed some drinks (including one for the driver) for THB 200. By 4:45 PM, we were back at Tierra Residences, ready to relax. Brendan made a quick trip to the PTT Station at Rama 4 and scored Pad Khra Pow for just THB 25 each (≈ MYR 3.20 / USD 0.80 / EUR 0.70). Talk about a steal!
Travel Tips for Bangkok
Get a Rabbit Card: It’s the easiest way to pay for BTS rides and saves time at ticket counters.
Avoid Taxi Scams: Always check the meter or use ride-hailing apps like Grab.
Carry Cash: Many food courts and small shops prefer cash or prepaid cards.
Stay Hydrated: Bangkok is hot and humid—grab bottled water at convenience stores for just THB 10 (≈ MYR 1.30 / USD 0.30 / EUR 0.30).
Plan Around Traffic: Bangkok traffic can be intense; BTS and MRT are your best friends.
