A Quiet Saturday That Didn’t Stay Quiet

It was meant to be a stay home Saturday. We were happily lazing around until we opened the GrabFood app — and immediately fell into option paralysis. After scrolling endlessly, we gave up and decided to drive out for lunch instead.

We took the elevator down to Level 4 to get to BiBi and headed toward Chow Kit. Since we needed to restock our provisions and give BiBi a shower, it felt like the perfect base for the afternoon.

Stocking Up at Wan Lee Heng

We parked in front of Wan Lee Heng Cash & Carry on Lengkok Raja Laut and began our shopping. We picked up tidbits and other essentials for RM142.10 (about USD33/EUR29), all of which went straight into BiBi’s boot.

A Taste of Jakarta at Sido Mampir

A short walk later, we arrived at Sido Mampir — an Indonesian restaurant we love because it reminds us of our time in Jakarta. We ordered:

Rawon Daging (for both of us)
Plain Omelette
2 plates of White Rice
Iced Nescafe
Iced Lemon Tea

Our nostalgic Javanese lunch came to RM32.55 (about USD8/EUR7).

On the way back, we stopped at In Hua Bee and bought several varieties of mung bean biscuits for RM15 (about USD4/EUR3).

BiBi Gets Pampered

We returned to BiBi and made a loop around Chow Kit before stopping at Qimi Car Wash. A wash and vacuum cost RM20 (about USD5 / EUR4), and we were impressed by how thorough they were.

Before leaving, I placed an order for two regular pizzas from Domino’s — RM38.90 (about USD9/EUR8), too good a deal to resist. We drove over to collect them, but as Cat went to pick up the pizzas, a man approached the car window with a vague request for money. Worried it might be an attempt at pukau (trance inducing scam), we left immediately and headed home.

Wrapping Up the Day

What started as a quiet Saturday turned into a full afternoon of errands, good food, and a little adventure.

We’ll be heading north to an old tin mining town next week — stay tuned for that trip.
