Meeting Caroline at Discover Borneo
Cat’s favourite beadstress, Caroline, was in town for The Curve’s Discover Borneo exhibition, held at the Centre Court from 4 July until tomorrow. Since she would be flying back to Kuching the next day, today was our only chance to see her.
We arrived at the Mutiara Damansara MRT station and walked over to The Curve. At the Centre Court, we found Caroline at her booth and handed her my Lava beads bracelet along with two of Cat’s necklaces for restringing.
Browsing Caroline’s Creations
Cat browsed what was left of Caroline’s collection — it had already been a week since she set up her booth, so the selection was noticeably depleted. Even so, Cat managed to pick out five beautiful necklaces to add to her ever growing collection.
Since Caroline needed time to work on our pieces, she suggested we go for lunch. (Do watch our previous video to see what we ate.) By the time we returned at 2:15pm, a traditional dance performance was taking place at the Centre Court.
Performances and Patience
Caroline was still restringing Cat’s second necklace, while my Lava beads bracelet was being worked on by a friend. We decided to wait — and were rewarded with a blow dart demonstration happening right in front of us.
Eventually, everything was ready. Along with a free woven bag for Cat and a complimentary beaded bracelet, our total haul from Caroline came to RM940 (about USD220/EUR190). It may sound pricey, but her craftsmanship is exquisite and worth every ringgit.
Wrapping Up the Afternoon
By the time we were done, it was just past 3:00pm. We bade Caroline a fond farewell and continued with the rest of our day. (Do watch our previous video to see where we headed next after The Curve.)
With nothing major planned in the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing vlogs of our weekend excursions here and there.
Stay tuned for more little adventures.
