Waiting Out the Rain
The afternoon heat was unbearable, so we stayed indoors until evening. We had planned to take a short walk to Gerbang Malam, less than a kilometre away, but a heavy downpour at 7:30pm completely derailed our plans.
For almost two hours, we waited for the rain to ease. By the time it slowed to a drizzle, most of the eateries at Gerbang Malam had already closed for the night.
Searching for Dinner
Our immediate backup options were the coffee shops across The Majestic along Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, but they too were closing. So we continued walking toward Jalan Yang Kalsom and eventually found ourselves at Haji Gany Nasi Kandar — an Indian Muslim restaurant open around the clock.
We took our seats and ordered a simple, comforting meal:
- Maggi Mee Goreng
- Roti Canai Sardin
- 2 Coca Cola
Everything came to just RM14.50 (about USD/EUR3). After dinner, we made our way back to The Majestic, grateful to have found a warm meal despite the weather.
Ending the Night
It wasn’t the evening stroll we had planned, but it was still a cosy, memorable night in Ipoh.
Stay tuned for our next video as we have breakfast at Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum.
