A Long Awaited Return to Teluk Intan
It had been years since we last visited Teluk Intan, so with the iconic leaning tower in mind, we woke up at 8:30am and got ready. I dashed down to the laundromat to drop off yesterday’s clothes while Cat got dressed.
By 9:00am, we were at Sri Kassim Restaurant for a simple breakfast of roti canai and drinks. Everything came to RM9.40 (about USD/EUR2). Our laundry was ready by 9:45am, and fifteen minutes later we hopped into BiBi and began our drive to Teluk Intan.
The Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan
The drive was smooth and took just about an hour. It was also our first time in Perak in many years. Naturally, our first stop was the Leaning Tower right in the centre of town. We circled around, found parking nearby, and walked over to take a bucketful of photos.
Snack Haul at CYSY Biscuit Shop
From the tower, we walked to CYSY Biscuit Shop and picked up two bags of snacks and goodies:
- 2 × CYSY Tambun Biscuits
- 1 × Chicken Biscuits
- 1 × Laurel Flower Tea
- 1 × Nyonya Sesame Crisps
- 2 × Tau Sa Piah (Mung Bean Paste Biscuits)
- 2 × Instant Cappuccino White Coffee
- 1 × Sesame Biscuits
- 2 × Teluk Intan fridge magnets
The total came to RM138.90 (about USD30/EUR26). We added two more fridge magnets for RM12.
Lunch at Anson Hainan Kopitiam
We got back into BiBi and drove a short distance to Anson Hainan Kopitiam — a legendary Hainanese coffee shop. Our full lunch experience will be in the next video.
Back to Sekinchan
After lunch, we made the return drive to Sekinchan. We stopped by the local Maybank branch to replenish our federal reserves, then headed back to the hotel to escape the searing afternoon heat.
What’s Next
Stay tuned as we share our lunch experience at Anson Hainan Kopitiam.
