KCH Day 1 │ Lim Hock Ann Seafood • 500th Video!

Our 500th Video in Kuching

After our late lunch at Kim Coffee Garden in Kenyalang Park, we spent the afternoon unpacking and settling into Adelyn’s homestay. By evening, we were ready to head out again — this time for a seafood dinner to mark our 500th video.

A colleague from our Kuching branch had recommended the Buntal Esplanade, about an hour’s drive north of the city. With that in mind, we checked online and settled on Lim Hock Ann as our dinner destination.

Dinner by the South China Sea

We left at 5:15pm and arrived 45 minutes later. Lim Hock Ann sits right by the waterfront, overlooking the South China Sea. It’s described as a place known for fresh seafood, friendly service, and a relaxed, scenic atmosphere — a favourite among locals and visitors alike.

Since it was our first time here, we took our time browsing the menu before deciding on:

  • Ikan Siakap (Sea Bass) in Teochew Gravy
  • Lala in Lemongrass Soup
  • Buttered Prawns
  • White Rice (each)
  • Kedondong (Ambarella) Juice (each)

Our first dinner in Kuching came to RM126.60 (≈ USD30 / EUR26) — a bargain compared to Kuala Lumpur, where seafood prices are easily double.

A Smooth Drive Back

Since I was driving, we stayed clear of alcohol. The journey back to Kenyalang Park was quiet and uneventful, and we reached Adelyn’s homestay just as the sky turned dark.

What’s Next

We’ll be waking up early tomorrow to explore Kenyalang Park Market.

Stay tuned for that morning adventure!
