Graduation Photo Shoot — Racing the Weather
After lunch at Unplugged Coffee, we decided not to wait for the weather to cool. Instead, we drove straight back to My Inn Hotel so Brendan could change into his graduation garb before heading out again to UNIMAS.
Given Kuching’s erratic weather, we didn’t want to take any chances. Once Brendan was suited up, we immediately set out for the campus.
Stop 1 — His Faculty
The first venue for the photography session was his faculty, the place where his UNIMAS journey began and ended. Brendan posed proudly in front of the building, graduation robes flowing in the breeze.
Stop 2 — Jambatan Cinta
Next, we drove to the bridge across UNIMAS Lake — Jambatan Cinta (The Lover’s Bridge). The soft light, the water, the greenery… it all made for beautiful shots.
Stop 3 — DeTAR
From the lake, we headed to Dataran Tuanku Abdul Rahman (DeTAR). This is where tomorrow’s ceremony will be held, so it felt fitting to capture a few moments here. After that, we took a short stroll back to his faculty for a few more photos.
Stop 4 — Cempaka College
The final photography session was at Cempaka College, Brendan’s old residence. He has bittersweet memories of living here — some good, some not so good, but all memorable in their own way. It was the perfect place to wrap up the shoot.
Beating the Rain
With that, we wrapped up Brendan’s photo shoot and drove back to the hotel. In hindsight, we were thankful for doing it early — dark clouds rolled in soon after.
What’s Next
We can’t wait for Brendan’s graduation ceremony tomorrow. The big day is finally here!
