Touchdown in Bangkok: Our Home Away from Home
Bangkok, we’re back! After landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we navigated a congested immigration hall that took half an hour before headed to Carousel 23 to collect our trusty yellow submarines (aka luggage). By the time we arrived the yellow submarines were ready and waiting and we were ready to roll.
Smooth Airport Transfer
A week earlier, we arranged an airport pickup with our Airbnb hosts. The instructions were simple: exit via Gate 7. Right on cue, our friendly driver Sammei greeted us there for a fixed fare of THB 1,000 (≈ MYR130 / USD31 / EUR27). By 3:50pm, we were on the road, and forty minutes later, we arrived at Tierra Residences, our chosen sanctuary in the Phra Kanong area.
Why Tierra Residences?
Nestled between Soi Sukhumvit 40 and 42, this quiet and peaceful condo was the perfect choice—especially now with Brendan joining us. The property offers:
- A saltwater swimming pool
- Fitness center and sun terrace
- Open-air bath, restaurant, and bar
- Free Wi-Fi throughout
The on-site restaurant is a gem, serving Chinese, American, Thai, and international cuisines for brunch, lunch, dinner, high tea, and cocktails. We loved it during our last stay and highly recommend it.
Check-In & Comfort
Check-in was a breeze. We grabbed our key card and headed to the second floor. The two-bedroom unit was fully equipped: bed linen, towels, two flat-screen TVs, a complete kitchen, and a balcony. A proper desk and chair made working on our videos comfortable—a big plus for us.

Value for Money
At RM329 per night (≈ USD80 / EUR68), this apartment offers fantastic value. Ken and his team are super helpful and welcoming, making Tierra Residences truly feel like home for the next ten nights.
Stay tuned—we’re about to take our first stroll through Bangkok!
