BKK Day 7 │ ICON Siam and Beyond Pt1!

Epic Excursion

We woke up at 7:15am and got ready for the day. About an hour later, we headed down to the lobby and managed to catch the 8:30am shuttle to Gateway Ekkamai.

Five minutes later, we arrived. Since the mall wasn’t open yet, we walked around the building and took an elevator up to the BTS level. We checked our Rabbit Card balances at the kiosk and topped up THB200 (≈ USD6/EUR5/MYR26) each.

BTS → Boat → ICONSIAM

We boarded the train toward Khu Khot and got off at Siam after seven stops. From there, we switched to the Silom Line toward National Stadium — just one stop away. We then crossed to the opposite platform and boarded the train toward Bang Wa.

Six stops later, we arrived at Saphan Taksin and exited the station. A short walk brought us to Bangkok Sathorn Pier, where we caught the orange flag Chao Phraya boat to ICONSIAM.

The fare was only THB8 (≈ USD0.20/EUR0.20/MYR1) each, and the ride took barely five minutes. Since we had fifteen minutes before opening time, we explored ICONSIAM Park, strolling along the riverbank before looping around to the street side entrance.

Brunch at ICONSIAM

We were famished, so we browsed the food options and settled on a local spread:

Ginger Fried Meat with Rice & Egg
Roasted Duck with Rice
Mixed Meat Soup
Hot Thai Coffee
Iced Thai Milk Tea

Total: THB330 (≈ USD10/EUR9/MYR43).

Shopping Begins

Once refueled, we began exploring ICONSIAM properly. Our first stop was NaRaYa, where we spent quite some time browsing before buying:

  • 2 bucket hats (for me)
  • 2 summer hats (for Cat)
  • 2 small bags (for a friend)
  • 1 toiletries bag
  • 7 coin pouches (souvenirs)
  • 1 handbag (for Cat)

Total: THB4,020 (≈ USD119/EUR110/MYR525).

We continued strolling through the ground floor food fest and picked up two fridge magnets for THB100 (≈ USD3/EUR3/MYR13) each.

More Shopping

Upstairs, we stopped by Uniqlo, where I got three pairs of stretchable short pants for THB1,772 (≈ USD52/EUR48/MYR231). Then we crossed over to H&M and bought a pair of pants and two T shirts for Brendan for THB2,398 (≈ USD71/EUR65/MYR313).

After that, we continued browsing and eventually made our way down to the riverside entrance at ICONSIAM Park — a perfect spot to take in the view and rest our feet.
