Breakfast @ Cecil Street
This morning, we made a concerted effort to wake up as early as we could. Determined to atone for last Christmas — when we tried twice but failed to eat at Cecil Street Food Court — we were up at 6:30am.
Brendan didn’t wish to join us, so we left the hotel at 7:00am and took a leisurely stroll along Jalan Penang, crossed the Octopus Pedestrian Bridge, continued along Jalan Penang, then turned left onto Jalan Magazine.
From there, we walked across to Lebuh McNair and continued for about a kilometre before finally arriving at our long awaited destination.
Breakfast at Last
We browsed the various stalls before settling on:
- Drinks — RM8.00
- Duck Meat Koay Teow Th’ng — RM7.00
- Western Breakfast — RM6.50
- Chee Cheong Fun — RM4.50
Our long overdue breakfast came to a very respectable RM26.00 (≈ USD/EUR6).
After eating, we wandered over to the cake stalls and picked up RM14.20 worth of sweet cakes to take away.
The Walk Back
We made our way back to the hotel by walking across Lebuh McNair onto Lebuh Cecil, then turning right onto Jalan Gurdwara. We continued for about a kilometre before heading along Jalan Dato Keramat, Jalan Macalister, and finally back onto Jalan Penang.
We crossed the Octopus Bridge once more and briefly considered picking up some pickled fruits from Chowrasta, but it was still closed. So we continued on and reached the hotel at 8:45am.
