Driving Back to Kota Kinabalu
We woke up at half past eight and took our time getting ready for the journey back down from the highlands. By a quarter past nine, we checked out of Ayana Holiday Resort, loaded our bags into the rental car, and began the drive back to Kota Kinabalu.
Brunch with a View
After about an hour on the road, we stopped at a small coffee shop in Kampung Kelawat called LGD Cafe. The place served simple local food, and we were happy to slow down for an early brunch surrounded by greenery.
We ordered:
- A strip of grilled pork belly
- A bowl of soup
- 3 plates of rice
- A round of drinks
Our brunch came to RM59.00 (≈ USD13/EUR12). Eating local grilled meat in the fresh mountain air felt special and unhurried.
Back on the Road
At 11:15am, we got back into the car and continued our drive. We made a short stop at a Petronas station along Jalan Tuaran to refuel, then carried on toward the city.
About an hour later, we arrived back in Kota Kinabalu and headed straight to our homestay, ready to settle in once more after our time in the clouds.
Stay tuned for our next video as we checked into The Shore Suites for the next chapter of our Sabah adventure.
