It’s My Birthday
In business since 1937 and touted as “the finest English restaurant in the highlands,” The Smokehouse Restaurant has long been known for traditional country house hospitality. In Malaysian hands since 1977, it continues to offer guests a glimpse of what first drew travellers to Cameron Highlands — lush gardens, refined British cuisine, and a setting right beside the stunning Cameron Highlands golf course.
So, a little past 1:00pm, we hailed a Grab to The Smokehouse for RM10.00 (≈ USD/EUR2).
A Classic English Lunch
It was our first time here, so we took our time browsing the menu. Still quite full from breakfast at Uncle Chow’s, we eventually settled on:
- Rib Eye Steak for Brendan
- Steak and Mushroom Pie for me
- Chicken Maryland for Cat
- Coca Cola for them
- Chamomile Tea for me
And for dessert:
- Apple Pie Tea Set
- Strawberry Sundae
Our English lunch came to RM377.00 (≈ USD80/EUR73) — not cheap by any stretch, but what the heck, it’s my birthday.
Strolling the Gardens
By the time we were done, it was almost 3:15pm, so we took a slow stroll around the gardens of The Smokehouse. The manicured hedges, stone pathways, and bursts of flowers made it feel like a little slice of the English countryside. We’ll let our footage paint the words for us.
Back to Cameron Fair
We then hailed another Grab — again RM10.00 (≈ USD/EUR2) — back to Cameron Fair.
Our perut was absolutely stuffed, and we were undecided about whether we’d even manage dinner later. Let’s wait and see.
More birthday adventures coming up!
