MKZ Day 3 │ JONKER Walk-About

Melaka Trip Day 3 — A Gentle Walk

After our hearty breakfast, we took things easy and set out on a slow walk through the heart of Melaka.

We started along Lorong Hang Jebat, heading southeast until we reached San Shu Gong, a well known shop for local products. We stopped briefly to pick up some souvenirs for our neighbours—of course, it had to be local white coffee.

Strolling Along Jonker Street

From there, we continued northeast onto Jalan Hang Jebat, better known as Jonker Street.

We walked its entire length, taking in the sights and sounds, until we reached the end where it met Jalan Tokong. Doubling back, we made a quick stop at Gu Pong Enterprise to pick up a box of Brendan’s favourite pineapple tarts.

Slowing Things Down

We carried on along Jonker Street once more, eventually crossing the Melaka River and Jalan Laksamana, before settling down for a short rest under the shade near Queen Victoria’s Fountain.

The truth was, we were still recovering from COVID 19. Our energy wasn’t what it used to be, and even a simple walk could be tiring. We found ourselves needing a break after about a kilometre—or sometimes less.

Calling It Early

And so, we decided to take it easy.

We ended our walkabout at The Stadthuys, choosing rest over pushing ourselves further. It wasn’t about covering distance—it was about knowing our limits and enjoying the journey at our own pace.

Sometimes, slowing down was part of the experience.

Stay tuned—more from Melaka to come! πŸ›️✨
