It’s been a week since we came back from the UAE. All week long in the office my head was still in the clouds recalling our amazing holiday in the Middle East. Who knew we would be stricken with Arab fever?

Anyway, we read online that the Klang Valley MRT Project was offering free rides from its Semantan station right up to its Sungai Buloh station. Once completed the MRT will connect Sungai Buloh to Kajang spanning a distance of 51 kilometres. We’ve been told that it will take six months for the remaining stations from Semantan onwards to Kajang to be ready.

It was late morning and we walked out towards Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR) to catch the GOKL Red Line free shuttle bus to KL Sentral.

At KL Sentral we decided to have brunch at the food court, and settled on the Korean Japanese stall.

as always, he had the kimchi stew

Our bellies full, we headed out of KL Sentral to catch another free shuttle bus to the MRT Station at Jalan Semantan, where we would catch a train to Sungai Buloh.

A short ten minute bus ride later and we arrived at the MRT station. The brand spanking new station looked every bit fresh, with large and roomy walkways and the architecture particularly modern.

We hopped on the first train headed to Sungai Buloh and enjoyed the sights from our lofty perch atop the tracks. Barely an hour later and we reached the end of the line, at Sungai Buloh. We disembarked and took some photos of the surroundings before getting on the next train back in the opposite direction.

Arriving at the Jalan Semantan Station, we found another free shuttle bus that took us directly to the DBKL building along Jalan Raja Laut which is barely a kilometre away from our apartment.

On the way back to our apartment we dropped by an Oldtown White Coffee café located in the MBC building and had some refreshments.

Thus ends our (absolutely free) journey on MyRapid’s excellent collection of public transportation. Despite what’s been said we believe Kuala Lumpur has among the best public transit systems in the region, second to only Singapore.
